Well, first of all, I had a very ugly, solid, and unattractive resume which was a shame for my career and I was unable to build a new one because I had this excuse in my mind: “I’m busy!”
Last week I’ve decided to apply for a new job in another country. That old CV was a definite failure so I told myself: “They don’t even read it. Build a new one!”
I’ve built 4 resume templates and I chose one of them. After sharing it with some of the most expert guys in the field and taking their opinions, the fifth one has been created and I quite like it.
There are some key points in creating a CV in my opinion:
- It shouldn’t be more than 2 pages! Actually, one page is more preferable. Because recruiters will spend only 30 to maximum 60 seconds on each CV and you should sell yourself in some keypoints and short headlines.
- Make an alive Cv with colors but not colorful! Two or three colors for the box, passages, and headlines are enough.
- Use a good picture of yourselves and Try to use the one that you use in social networks like LinkedIn, StackOverflow and Github. Remember a CV with a photo isn’t acceptable in all countries and in some, it’s a must. So it’s a good idea to have two versions. One with and another without a photo.
- Don’t include useless information about yourself in the CV. Your university’s projects are not really important for the recruiter.
- Use a timeline and show your improvement in every step. Achievements are good things to show.
- Demonstrate your abilities with percent or bars or whatever that shows how much you are expert on it.
- Finally, ask experts in your field of work to give their opinions on your CV. It’s really useful!
